Rest In Peace, Lightning

It is my sad duty to inform you that the Tampa Bay Lightning, who captured the Stanley Cup in the effulgent 2003-04 season, apparently passed away some time ago but was only today officially pronounced dead by the Smirking Cat after their insufferable defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia Flyers this afternoon.

Unfortunately, the team members and Coach Tortorella are in abject denial of the demise, and they continue to haunt the ice and play abominably, much to the chagrin and horror of Lightning fans worldwide. If you encounter one of these wretched spirits of the afterlife, simply point them in the direction of the locker room of the great beyond and encourage them to go to the light…go to the light.

About TheSmirkingCat

I am endlessly trying to make sense of a world that has completely and unapologetically lost its mind.

Ever since Khabibulin left, they haven’t been the same.

Don’t despair. they’ll be back. I see they’re playing the Blues in early Feb. I’ll wait to read your report after that game. I’m a Blues fan. We’re in a rut right now, but I’m hopeful.

Don't be shy! Tell me how great I am. Or not. Share your feelings with the group.
