Lord Stanley

See the pretty, shiny object to the left? Ladies and gentlemen, this is the Stanley Cup. This is for hockey teams who do NOT suck.

True to character, the Tampa Bay Lightning lost the last 4 games of the season and managed to get shut out in that last handful of games too, ending the humiliating season with salt scrubbed deeply into the wounds. Actually they managed to finish 30th out of 30…makes the heart all warm with pride, eh? Or is that heartburn?

My underachieving team aside, the NHL play-offs begin tomorrow (I am pausing here for the mandatory bow of homage to this sacred event). Playoffs = multiple hockey games each day, every day, fulfilling my crack-like need, er, I mean, love of the game…

…and giving the Lightning adequate time to lash themselves with cat-o-nine tails and then get back on the ice and show me some real hockey next season.

Tortorella, Vinny, Marty…don’t make me come over there.

My loser team (the canucks) didn’t make it either. Grrr. But still!! It’s going to be all hockey all the time soon enough! Yay!On the positive side for you, the Lightening won the NHL draft lottery and get to pick first in June. Something’s better than nothing!

  2. well… any picks for the playoffs oh wise one? ๐Ÿ™‚

As long as it’s ANYONE but Detroit, I will be happy! Okay…anyone but Detroit or Pittsburgh!

  4. Dijea says:

Does anyone really want Detroit, besides those that live in Detroit. (No Offense to anyone living in Detroit – including my husband’s cousin & his wife.. BTW, they are Stars fans!) I hope my beloved Stars will come out victorious, but somehow I’m feeling a little stressed about the first round.

lol – I have met Lord Stanley, in person. Stood within feet…while in Detroit. He comes to visit often. I now live in Phoenix, so I guess I count as a Wings fan that does not live there. ๐Ÿ˜›

  7. Not to detract from the Lightning, but since they did win the Stanley Cup several years ago, and the Bucs did win the Super Bowl, looks like it’s the Rays’ turn to come up on top!

Don't be shy! Tell me how great I am. Or not. Share your feelings with the group.
