Down but Not Out

Wondering where I’ve been lately? I’ve been in the strangleholds of the bony death grip of the bubonic plague, or at least, what certainly feels like it. My head is as heavy as a bowling ball and throbs with a headache induced by non-stop coughing and nose-blowing, but hey, other than that…can’t complain!

The Lightning had a teaser win over the Canadiens last week, then lapsed back into their familiar, typical lose-’em-all streak. I honestly haven’t even been bothering to watch the Lightning games. The instant the puck is dropped, I already know the Lightning will lose, so why bother? Watching paint dry is more exciting.

Gary and I put up the Christmas tree this past weekend, joking that we should be wearing argyle turtleneck sweaters and leisurely sipping hot chocolate, and we wrapped the kids’ presents together. The cats have claimed each and every present as theirs as they see fit, and they have alternated opening them, preferably at 3 AM, so Gary and I have at least a week of re-wrapping presents, apparently to amuse 3 ill-behaved felines who may soon find themselves outdoor cats if they don’t shape up!

About TheSmirkingCat

I am endlessly trying to make sense of a world that has completely and unapologetically lost its mind.

Sounds like you need some spicy chicken noodle soup and a lot of rest. Maybe a shot of whiskey. We just put our tree up too, I’m recently battling trying to keep the cat from playing/drinking out of the tree’s water dish.
