Over a year and a half ago, I posted here about Gary’s new blog, Gary’s Greetings, a blog I started for him to showcase some of the drawings he was creating for the kids and sketches he made that were just sitting in a drawing pad. Recently Gary decided to take over the reins and has been posting his own drawings, and it’s far more interesting to read his own words about where his ideas came from, rather than my bland, non-artist descriptions of his drawings!
The kids love to draw too, and sometimes their creations are rather amusing, at least to some members of the household. Flipping through the pages of one of their sketch books, I found a drawing of Sylvester, flopped flat on his back, with a grotesquely large, inflated belly protruding to the ceiling. Just in case you weren’t swift enough to gather from the exaggerated mammoth gut that the cat is a wee bit on the fat side, the clever young artist added a balloon near the cat’s head so that the cat was saying, “I am Sylvester. I am fat and lazy.”
When I inquired about this particular drawing, there was much chuckling and self-satisfied guffawing. Hmmmph. Can’t anyone tell that Sylvester is fluffy?
