How does the family court system expect an individual to successfully co-parent, who not only woefully lacks the skills or ambition to adequately perform as a parent, but also lacks the emotional maturity and ambition to independently care for oneself?

You can’t court order competence. Or compassion for one’s own children.

You really shouldn’t have to.

Those are qualities that can't be taught or tested for.

Unfortunately, they allow people who were never graced with those qualities to have children. And the children suffer.

unfortunately the problems are usually the parent(s) and not the court.

  4. and till i die.. i'll always wonder why certain ones ever have kids

  5. kelly says:

“You can't court order competence.” That should hang on a big, bold sign behind every family court judge!

  6. Crys says:

“You can't court order competence.” Can we put that on a button and wear it to court?

It's most unfortunate and it's really the children who feel the wrath of that. It's not even that some people shouldn't have children, it astounds me when they continue to have multiple children.

Don't be shy! Tell me how great I am. Or not. Share your feelings with the group.
